Shringara – Rasa2

November 3, 2009 9 comments

Shringara means love and beauty. This is the emotion used to represent that which appeals to the human mind, that which one finds beautiful, that which evokes love. This is called the king of all rasas and is  most frequently portrayed in art. Classical Dance expresses this rasa in a lot of ways. This is the only rasa that makes us forget to think about  our well being in the first place. There are various interpretations for this rasa like being used for  the love between friends, the love between a mother and her child, the love for god or the love between a teacher and his disciples. The most common/popular form of Shringara is the love between a man and a woman.  9/10 Indian films exploit this rasa in one form or other. But thats what makes what we are 😛

Here in this sketch I have tried to portray  a sweet anticipation of a woman as she waits for her lover and thinking abt her lover she is lost in thought.
